I’m getting more outspoken and seem to notice B S more frequently out there. Maybe the world at large is noticing B S more frequently too, like recent events at the President’s Club, and it’s rubbing off on me!
How did those men ever think they could get away with fourth form behaviour in the current zeitgeist of #metoo and exposing abusive behaviour toward women? Thick or arrogant?
I’ve been exploring women’s magazines for those that would be a good fit for the #7Step Programme; creating what you desire instead of what you don’t want in life. My ‘explore’ had advertising and press releases in mind. Little did I know I was in for a big surprise.
Remember what I wrote about in The Emperor’s No Clothes Thing…? Well, in my research I came across another shallow trick called ‘positive stinking.’ And in one magazine, positive stinking reigned supreme.
It hit me in the face as I turned page after page. It was relentless. By the time I got to the end of the magazine I felt as though I’d gone ten rounds in a positivity punch up with Joshua Anthony.
No mention of overcoming adversity. No mention of feeling shit. No mention of making mis-takes. No mention of vulnerability. It was all go go go go GO… BE POSITIVE!
This is one mother of a denial. Yes, there’s definitely a place for positive thinking and you’ll learn about that in the #7Step programme. But there’s no place for denying the reality of being you with your challenges, down times, insecurities and failures. #7Step encompasses ALL of you and helps you embrace and navigate the foregoing without making it a big deal.
The #7Step programme helps you become even more authentically you including all your ‘stuff’ rather than being a happy-clappy-positive-stinker shoving it all down.
My name is Sharon Eden and I have failed too. In my early life, failure felt like a catastrophe. Then I learned… And, as Will Smith outlines it so passionately in his 90 second video, I’m going to let him tell you the great thing I learned about failure.
I can’t imagine what I would have missed out on if I had denied my failures with a dose of pesky positive stinking!
Please forward this to one or two women you know who should be receiving my posts and belonging to our #daretobeyou community. Encourage them to sign up here with my thanks.
There’s a difference between being positive and denying your reality with ‘positive stinking.’
Who you are is a magnificent, powerful and deliciously complex woman. Embracing all of you, including your failures and what they teach you, is what makes you shine…
