I’m feeling a bit tired and grumpy. Been working hard in my psychotherapy practice, speaking and writing. Been working hard as Chair of a women’s networking group. Been working hard as the Secretary of a political party’s constituency women’s forum. Been working hard to launch the #7Steps.
And this morning I feel ‘been there, seen that, got the T shirt!’ Remember my post Misogyny and Star Jumps? It could have been written in any year in previous centuries and any year so far of this one. I’m wondering how long the #metoo, black dresses on red carpets and similar campaigns will raise consciousness and effect lasting change.
Real change and not just having patriarchal and misogynist behaviour go underground…
Feeling a bit cynical has been triggered by the approach of International Women’s Day on 8th March. For divine’s sake, I’m nearly seventy years old and we’re still fighting the good fight!
In case you don’t know much about IWD, here’s a quotation from the well worth a visit website www.internationalwomensday.com and their #PressforProgress campaign…
‘Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained, “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” So make International Women’s Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.’
I walked away from my laptop after typing that because I wanted to cry. I passionately desire for every woman to be her powerful, divine feminine inspired and magnificent self. THAT AND ONLY THAT IS THE WAY FORWARD.
For me, this is not about being anti-men but totally, totally about being pro women and humanity itself.
For you can campaign and march and take action until you’re blue in the face but, until women liberate themselves and take their rightful place as influencers in the world… Rhetoric is only so much hot air!
However, a woman standing in her power can by the force of her presence and wit neutralise anti-women attitudes and behaviours. I know because I’ve done it.
Working one to one, or even as a trainer and speaker, there’s only so many women I can positively affect. That was the thinking behind creating the #7Steps.
As you know, it’s a home study programme that helps you move from what’s holding you back to what you desire instead. You also have access to me if needed. Plus, once travelled, it’s a template you can use over and over again to become your most powerful, divine feminine inspired and magnificent self. Oh yes you can!
That’s what I do to truly make a positive difference for women.
If you’ve already visited its web page, I encourage you to visit again and spot the difference. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
For me, the whole human liberation movement begins with one woman at a time. Woman by woman changing herself so she can stand proud in her womanhood and be effective in the world.
Just imagining what a collective of powerful women could achieve for the greater good makes tingles down my spine. So, please, please take time on 8th March to reflect on what gift you have to create positive change for women, however small. Then give it.
Even as little as one thousand small gifts can create a massive woman inspired and led change for the better. And if Mother Earth and her inhabitants ever needed our help, it has to be now!
Love to you…
